Rockford native shares
internship experience with 13 WREX

Fehr Graham interns have been in the spotlight the last few days. Rockford native Drake Szyp was interviewed by 13 WREX on Monday.

The 2010 Auburn High School student worked at Fehr Graham previously. That experience led him to go back to school to get his engineering degree. He's spent the last two months back at Fehr Graham as an intern working on the Mercyhealth Hospital project in northeast Rockford. He's also done survey work on North Main Street, which is under construction from Auburn Road to Riverside Boulevard.

Szyp is getting hands-on experience that he can't get in the classroom.

"It's really cool to tell my friends and family I am working out on that job," Szyp told Ale Alvarez with WREX. "It's cool to see it all develop."

Last week, Cameran Coy of 23 WIFR spent some time with interns Charity Voskuil of Pecatonica and Ellie Macklin of Rochelle on Friday. Watch both videos and read the story.
