Monticello Road - Champaign County, Illinois

Monticello Road supports rural growth

Illinois is the biggest producer of soybeans, corn and swine. It is important we improve rural communities that drive this the $19-billion-a-year industry, according to figures provided by the Illinois Department of Agriculture.

Monticello Road lies just south of Champaign, Illinois. This June, crews began replacing a 126-foot, three-span steel beam bridge over the Kaskaskia River to better connect those who live in rural areas to the city. Under the bridge, along the East Lake fork, a triple, 11-by-11-foot concrete box culvert will facilitate proper water flows. Construction will be complete this fall.
