Congratulations to Fehr Graham Partners on IDOT EDP Grant Awards

Congratulations to two Fehr Graham community partners. The City of Loves Park and Winnebago County were both recently awarded Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Economic Development Program (EDP) grant funds totaling $3.6 million to develop infrastructure to improve access for future development. Fehr Graham worked closely with the two communities on the successful grant submittals.

In Loves Park, $1.6 million was awarded to help fund a $3.2 million project improving road access for the future operations of Komax Systems, a local maker of automated assembly systems. Komax is moving into the business park at Spring Creek Lakes near Interstate 90, north of Riverside Boulevard. Phase I of the business park consists of nearly 125 acres of greenfield development opportunity for the City of Loves Park.

The Baxter Road area south of Rockford near the Rock 39 Industrial Park has been developing over recent years. Winnebago County received $2 million from the IDOT program to help fund the nearly $5 million improvement to Baxter Road in anticipation of the increased traffic from the future FedEx ground operations. FedEx is expected to complete construction soon on an 186,000-square-foot building. The project is expected to cost upwards of $20 million and bring more than 150 jobs.

Fehr Graham has been successful in getting many Midwest communities grant funds from various sources. If your community would like to know more about Fehr Graham’s grant-writing capabilities, please contact one of our ten local Fehr Graham offices to be put in touch with a Community Development Specialist.
